What a term! What a team!

Our SRC has worked extremely well as an effective penguin team this term!  We have achieved much success in deciding on the mascots for our Expert Learner Qualities…

We are resilient like Ormie – we never give up!

We’re organised like the Chipmunks….

 

We are supporting these three charities and will be organising the following fundraisers throughout the year:

  • Dress up as an animal for the RSPCA
  • Crazy Hair Day for the Leukaemia Foundation
  • Pyjama Day for the Cancer Council.

We have voted to spend the enterprise day money on transforming the existing teacher library into a kitchen & science area (when all the teacher resources have been moved out).

We’ve achieved a lot in one term, imagine what we can do in the next three working together as a team!

  • Risk Taker Mascot : Rio or does your class have another idea?  If you do, you need to supply the links to the clip to Simone or the SRC Execs by THURSDAY this week.  If we don’t have a clip, we won’t be able to vote on your mascot ideas 🙁

Spheros

It was suggested that some of the money from enterprise day be used to help purchase a set of class Sphero 2.0’s.  So, what are Spheros?  Spheros are programmable robotic balls that help build coding and programming skills and understandings  in a fun, hands-on way.  They are great fun and the options for learning are limited only by your imagination.  Sounds interesting, right?  Watch the clip below to find out more

ENTERPRISE DAY – HOW WILL WE SPEND THE CASH?

We’ll all be busy working like teamwork penguins to make enterprise day happen… There’s been lots of Crow active thinking happening and we’ll all have to be resilient like Ormie to make enterprise day a success…  And it will be!

We usually raise a few thousand dollars to spend on a project in the school.  The SRC Reps had long discussions in their mentor groups and would like your class to comment/vote on the following suggestions.

  1. Buy kitchen equipment (stoves/ovens etc.) for the teacher library to be converted into a kitchen/science area
  2. Buy Beebots and Spheros (programmable robotic balls) for our learning

Reps also suggested buying iPads, more books for the library, new instruments for the music room…

FUNDRAISING IDEAS – ONE LAST VOTE!

Classes have voted and the following decisions were agreed on by the majority of classes:

RSPCA – Dress up as an animal day

LEUKEMIA FOUNDATION – Crazy Hair day

Cancer Council – Please vote on one of the following ideas:

1) Yellow Day – everyone dresses up in something yellow for a gold coin donation

2) Odd Sock Day – explains itself!

3) Pyjama Day

4) Bandana Day

Vote Now – Expert Learner Quality RISK TAKER

We’ve done most of the work so far to find mascots for our expert learner qualities.  We’ve found this clip of Rio taking a risk and think he would make a great mascot.  Can your class think of another mascot to represent a Risk Taker?  Either vote for Rio in the comments or share a clip or mascot idea… It’s time to work as a whole school team to find the rest of the mascots!
